The mission of the Orange County Leadership Prayer Breakfast is to bring together like-minded individuals from all walks of life who have faith and believe in the power of prayer and to lift up County leaders in that prayer so they may serve with the wisdom and discernment God bestows upon them."
" I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again, when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help."
~ President Franklin D. Roosevelt
History of Prayer Breakfasts
The United States of America began and has been prosperous through faith in God; a faith which has produced enlightenments, purpose, hope, mutual trust, and cooperation. The breakfast groups were begun in the early 1930s by a group of business executives and subsequently included leaders from various spheres of influence. Their purpose was to foster faith based on facts revealed in the Bible, verified in history, and substantiated in experience. From that early beginning, these groups spread into a national movement and are now in more than thirty-three countries around the world.
Each group and each breakfast is autonomous, being tied together only by a mutual interest in the spiritual needs of the world. In 1941, breakfast groups were inaugurated in the United States Senate and House of Representatives. These groups have steadily grown and provide a fellowship and rapport among the members of Congress.
The Presidential Prayer Breakfast was inaugurated during the Eisenhower administration. This breakfast draws together the members of the Cabinet, Supreme Court, Congress, Diplomatic Corps, the Armed Forces, and the men and women from across our nation and the world who seek Divine guidance. It is in this spirit that we hold the Orange County Leadership Prayer Breakfast. We truly thank you for uniting with us in prayer for our County and its leaders.
Join us the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 a.m. as we pray for our County and our Nation. A small, but dedicated group of individuals meet to pray at the Goshen Diner (118 Clowes Ave., Goshen) for about half an hour. If interested, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all people...
I Timothy 2:1
